It’s funny what a drink can do

The last time I had a glass of cava
It was with the Leigh-Simpson’s in Java,
The volcano erupted, our mood was disrupted,
And their house was swept away by the lava!

Chorus:
(Oh) I do like a drink or two,
It makes the morning lighter,
The night-time brighter,

It’s funny what a drink can do...

When in Cadiz I drink San Miguel
‘Cause in summer it’s hotter than hell,
It slips down a treat, to the soles of my feet
And shoots off my sombrero as well!

It’s said Glasgow is grim and grainy
And the mornings are freezing and rainy,
So I learnt at college to mix in my porridge
Glenfiddich, Glen Spey or Balvenie!

Chorus:
(Oh) I do like a drink or two,
It makes the morning lighter,
The night-time brighter,

It’s funny what a drink can do...

Now Mexico’s the land of tequila,
It’s in bars from Merida to Tijuana,
I knock it back neat, get blown off my feet,
It’s medicinal you know, it can heal yer!

From Moscow to Vladivostock
The vodka they drink is quite a shock
For tradition’s sake, I match their intake
And start after breakfast at nine o’clock!

Chorus:
(Oh) I do like a drink or two,
It makes the morning lighter,
The night-time brighter,

It’s funny what a drink can do...

When on holiday in the Bahamas
I shake up rum and bananas
Coconuts and ice, a pineapple slice,
They’re great for sun-ups and sundowners!

When dining in France I drink a Bordeaux
A magnum of St Emilion or Margaux
The age doesn’t matter, it won’t make me fatter,
So I go down to my chateau and get blotto!

Chorus:
(Oh) I do like a drink or two,
It makes the morning lighter,
The night-time brighter,

It’s funny what a drink can do...

In Tokyo they love their sake,
I have it with sushi on Sunday,
I toss it down hot, shot after shot,
And you can’t get me off the karaoke!

When I was in Greece I drank their retsina
And never got to see the temple of Athena
I drank bottles dry ‘neath a bright starry sky
And danced naked on the beach to Mama Mia!

Chorus:
(Oh) I do like a drink or two,
It makes the morning lighter,
The night-time brighter,

It’s funny what a drink can do...

I see cousin Fritz when in the area
His hair of the dog couldn’t be hair-ier
For two days he soaks his schnapps in egg yolks
And I get sloshed in his schloss in Bavaria!

Chorus:
(Oh) I do like a drink or two,
It makes the morning lighter,
The night-time brighter,

It’s funny what a drink can do!
